My YouTube Equipment

I get asked about my equipment all the time. Here's my current setup for camera, audio, lighting and editing – with an honest verdict on whether I'd buy it again.

1. 1. Microphone: Shure MV7X

   ~167 €

   Would I buy it again? Yes. This is also the microphone many well-known podcasters use. I don't need the USB connection of the more expensive Shure MV7. For most YouTubers, though, the USB connection is probably more convenient.

2. 2. Audio mixer: Elgato Wave

   ~161 €

   Would I buy it again? Yes. With an XLR connection the audio quality sounds noticeably better than with a classic USB-C connection.

3. 3. Microphone stand: Aokeo

   ~21 €

   Would I buy it again? Yes. There are definitely nicer options, but this stand is super light for traveling and folds up really well. For a home setup, however, I'd prefer a higher-quality stand.

4. 4. Cameras (2×): Sony ZV-1

   ~650 € / each

   Would I buy it again? Yes. Brilliant 4K video quality, streaming capability and a flip screen. Made specifically for video recording.

5. 5. SD cards (2×): SanDisk Extreme PRO

   ~58 € / each

   Would I buy it again? Yes. There are much cheaper SD cards out there, but I don't want to wait an hour for the files to transfer. That's why I made sure to get high transfer speeds.

6. 6. Lighting (2×): LED panel for camera

   ~40 €

   Would I buy it again? Oh yes! I used to use an LED ring light that required an extra tripod. These LED panels, on the other hand, I can mount directly onto my cameras.

7. 7. Standing tripod (main camera): Zomei Q111

   ~35 €

   Would I buy it again? Yes. Up to 140 cm tall and weighs only 1.25 kg. Ulanzi also has a big carbon-fiber tripod. But I don't see the point of paying 400 € just to save 0.1 kg of weight. 🤷🏻‍♂️

8. 8. Tabletop tripod (secondary camera): Ulanzi MT-41

   ~33 €

   Would I buy it again? Yes. Ulanzi is clearly my favorite here.

9. 9. Laptop: 16" MacBook Pro M2 Max (96 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD)

   ~4100 €

   Would I buy it again? Yes. With this machine you can edit 4K videos smoothly without any problems – no matter how many other tabs are open. The only thing I'd probably do differently next time is upgrade to 2 or 4 TB of storage.

    ~220 €

    Would I buy it again? Yes. Super slim, lightweight, includes a leather case and top image quality.
